The Grasp
A Bestiary of Rimalia
“‘tis ninety-nine have I see’,
so told Yerold the wise poet:
‘tis ninety-nine days of slaughter
and ninety-nine days of floods
that Amrak grasped the land’s corner
to raise it up from the endless abyss...”

It was told that the hero Amrak lifted the entire land from pools of the abyss, away from the tides of beasts at the end of the lost era. A corner of the land cracked and shattered under his tight grasp, forming the intricate and dangerous landforms uncovered by civilization over millennials. Now, with the rising demand for new natural resources, an expedition team under the investment of Northern Furakan Unions headed deep into this southern land, with Su, the scholar escorted by the Shorekeeper, in the hope of recording all the bizarre creatures he met along this adventure...
The Grasp is an ongoing project with combination of creature design, character design, illustrations and narratives, together displaying as a bestiary and field note of an uncovered region in a fantasy world, while depicting the story of brave protagonists.
The current version consists of three environmental areas from the barren surface of the land to the intricate underground cavity beneath. All contents are sorted and arranged in the form of a 50-page book, as my undergraduate senior independent project.
